problems to be solved
When I was initially approached about this project, the biggest problem presented for me to fix was that the current t-shirt design they had was just a solid slab of non-breathing vinyl on a shirt. This created a great amount of discomfort for the team members because they worked in all kinds of locations and climates, and in especially hot weather this created large patches of very wet shirt that made uncomfortable work even worse. They wanted to stick with the "REO Rhino" motif, and they wanted something more stylized, possibly with a tech leaning, since their competency was in robotics.

This original design was paired with very plain text on the existing shirt. The solid nature made wearing it outdoors in hot climates extremely uncomfortable, do to the sweat and the heat of the vinyl soaking up the sun.

I created a selection thumbnail possibilities in Procreate, and I pitched them all to the team. There were a couple rounds of thumbnails and a few requests for refinement, but these are some examples of ideas that were suggested.

This was the final design that was landed on, and the team absolutely loved it. The armored rhino was a favorite visual motif of the team, and I'm so happy that I was able to represent it in a way that the team was excited about.
applications
In addition to screen printing and embroidery for apparel, the logo was also utilized for slide deck presentations, project and research posters, instructional materials, and many other applications and mediums.
