velvet devil wine label
This wine label design was done for The Velvet Devil, a Merlot by Charles Smith Wines based out of Washington. The mission of Charles Smith Wines is to create a wine for immediate consumption, rather than one that is meant to be stored and brought out only for special occasions. A wine for the weekend. The label design was created as a collector's item limited launch for the 2015 vintage release. I wanted to do fully illustrated type and illustrated elements to make it more visually interesting to the consumer who would see this label on the shelf. The eyes, especially, are meant to draw the consumer's gaze and send the message that this wine is dangerous, but you can handle it. Maybe. The final, printed version was intended to have flocked texturing applied to the devil graphic, making it feel like velvet.
