The poster was designed with size versatility in mind, so it functions at both 12x18 and 24x36, allowing for posting in various spaces and applications.
The inspiration for this poster came from designs produced in the Federal Art Project, part of the Works Progress Administration, which was funded by President Franklin Roosevelt's "New Deal" following the Great Depression. The Federal Art Project gave work to unemployed artists to create posters for the arts, education, health and safety awareness, and overall public good and improvement. It was later heralded as a period of great experimentation and advancement in the history of graphic design.
This poster in particular was a source of visual inspiration as the goggles are highlighted, not by any addition of any visual element to make them stand out, but by the subtraction of detail from everywhere else in the poster.
